Carrollton, TX.

In a significant move to revamp its Printing operations, the Dallas Morning News has reached a crucial milestone. Seven months after announcing plans to relocate and enhance its Printing facilities in May 2024, the final component of the Press equipment from imPRESSions Worldwide has been delivered to their new Print facility in Carrollton, TX. This delivery included a remarkable, forty-eight automated GOSS SSC Printing Units, two N40 Folders, eighteen Splicers, Press Desks, Drives, and Motors, transported over a challenging 2,000-mile journey through winter conditions using seventeen 53′ Conestoga semi-trucks.

We’ve made significant progress with the installation. The first phase of the Press installation is complete. We have commenced the commissioning process involving the methodical assembly and calibration of the initial 24 units—referred to as (A) Press. imPRESSions Worldwide technical crew is collaborating closely with the Dallas Morning News Printing staff and DCOS representatives to ensure a smooth transition into live production.

Simultaneous to the (A) Press commissioning and start-up process, the (B) Press is now being mechanically installed. This Pressroom transformation represents a significant investment in the future of the Dallas Morning News, enabling it to more effectively meet the demands of modern news distribution, save an estimated $5 million annually in expenses, and achieve a significant boost in profitability. The new facility will be equipped with two Presses (A Press and B Press), each capable of Printing up to 36 broadsheet pages and producing a combined total of 50,000 copies per hour to run seven days a week, producing a premier Print product.

The new smaller facility and Press configuration that the Dallas Morning News has chosen marks a big transition for the company. This transformation marks a significant investment into the future of the Dallas Morning News, setting the stage for it to meet the demands of modern news distribution more efficiently.

As the Dallas Morning News begins this exciting new chapter in its storied history, stay tuned for more updates to come. We are excited to see this beautiful Press come to life!
